Sandy rail station is located on the East Coast mainline, which provides trains to central London and to Peterborough. The town of Bedford is just 8 miles away. Interestingly, Sandy was originally a Roman settlement and an important trading centre in the Roman era.

Close by is the Shuttleworth collection, home to a living, working exhibition of vintage aircraft, cars and motorcycles alongside many industrial heritage exhibits such as steam engines. Sandy is also home to RSPB The Lodge nature reserve and gardens, which has over 5 miles of trails leading through tranquil woodland and formal gardens.
